Based on our current experience, we would not recommend this location. This was the only thing we found has remained 'topnotch' and we really enjoyed that aspect of our stay as we have in the past. Important Note: The separate tennis program remains absolutely outstanding. We regret writing such negative feedback about their place of employment, but feel we have no alternative but to share our experience with others who contemplate booking or returning to this location with the expectation that they'd find it consistent with their prior visits or our prior reviews. Lastly, we're so sorry for the few long-standing employees at Topnotch that we respect and always enjoy seeing. We came to relax and connect in our former 'happy place' only to be treated with indifference in a very tired property. (and our visit was off season in early May). Now, it appears to be a wedding venue 'cash cow' for the investment group and they have lost any sense of customer service for other guests. In trying to address the issue, I was told I was wrong (which I was not) and then ignored. I always try to resolve issues in-house before writing a negative review, but nobody onsite cared enough about guest safety and comfort to return a call, which left me smoking hot. I never got a call back, much less an apology, or anything else, leaving me to conclude that this type of mishap doesn't warrant any attention on their part. I asked the desk to have the manager call me. I tried that the next morning and it happened again! The issue wasn't fixed until later that next day. He said I just had to run the cold water for a few minutes. When I called the desk to tell them that the issue wasn't fixed, l was told I wasn't listening and that the problem had been corrected. My spouse tried to tell them the issue was outside of our room because all of the taps in our suite were impacted (and they noted the room above us had the same issue), but they insisted on changing the shower cartridge in our room. I had to go to the spa to finish my shower, discreetly change and leave for dinner, only to find the maintenance crew still there when we got back. After reporting it to the acting manager on duty, maintenance people were in our room for several hours. The worst part of our stay was having to jump out of a burning hot shower due to a water issue that resulted in only extremely hot water (by this I mean too hot to touch even for a second) in all of the taps of our room, rendering them unusable for 2 days. I see no evidence of much needed investment in customer-facing touch points at this location with the exception of the exterior landscaping, which is still lovely. A prior reviewer mentioned the pool being dirty -it still is. The furnishings need replacement and obvious signs of neglect are everywhere. Our experience has been not at all like the previous visits or reflective of my previous glowing reviews. Apparently, they were sold to a new investment group just before COVID, which was the last time we were here. I am so sad to write this review, as we've been loyal Topnotch patrons for over 15 years and have stayed here a dozen times or more.

There is also the opportunity to either enjoy a countryside trail or carriage ride on property with Gentle Giants or the Topnotch Stables. Mt ops at the base of the driveway offers bike rentals for the Stowe recreation path which is also only a five minute walk from our main lodge. In addition to those amenities, there are two separate operations on our grounds with additional benefits. We also have a variety of local hiking trails to recommend for outdoor adventures. Across from our main entrance is our newly renovated tennis center which offers court rental, lessons with pros academies and clinics.

Beyond the on site mountain view dining in our Roost restaurant, we also have a full service spa offering a variety of treatments, fitness classes including yoga and pilates and personal trainers on staff for developing fitness programs in our weight and cardio rooms. Hello Alan, I'm sorry that you felt we were not meeting your standard of expectation for resort experiences.
